A camera can remain powered while its view becomes obstructed, and a working live image does not confirm that playback is available. Readers and intercoms also need to be checked in the way people actually use them. A defined testing routine gives management a clearer record of the equipment’s observed condition.

• Check agreed camera views and review accessible lenses, covers and housings for obstruction or deterioration.
• Perform suitable accessible cleaning within scope and in accordance with equipment guidance.
• Check recording and sample playback, noting gaps or settings that require review.

Set the visit scope and frequency around equipment, exposure, access conditions and property priorities. Coverage can address one site or a portfolio. Distinguish scheduled checks from repairs requiring separate approval; software changes are reviewed for suitability and authorized before implementation.

Communication and follow through

Provide a record of the devices checked, observed issues, work completed and items awaiting approval. Recheck functions affected by authorized adjustments. Where ROUT is included, findings can become assigned follow-up requests; a scheduled visit is a condition check at that time, not continuous monitoring.
